Here is the Gingerbread OTA that was released on October 25, 2011. It is build number 2.11.605.5 and has many improvements over the last OTA that was taken down quickly. This ROM is the official stock build but with root and is debloated (all the crap apps are removed). To flash, put the ROM on your sd card, boot to recovery, wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, mounts and storage, wipe system partition, then choose zip from sd card and flash.
quick question, I followed your youtube video for rooting my thunderbolt.
ReplyDeleteI would assume, I just need to follow your instructions above to upgrade to the 2.11.605.5?
Also would doing the above wipe all data from the sd card?- as i have some apps that i bought and want to save and install later...
thanks again for the hard work.
@josephchoi Yes u can follow my instructions above. No ur SD card will not get wiped, only ur phones data including apps contacts etc. All paid apps are linked to ur Google account, so when u log in with the same Google account u can just download the apps again.
ReplyDeleteWill I need to flash radio for this rom also?
ReplyDelete@larryn Depends what u have now. Wats ur baseband? Settings , about phone, software info , more
ReplyDeleteI have a stock thunderbolt. I am rooted using the revolutionary method. I've been deferring the OTA update. I'm about to ROM to 2.11.605.5.
ReplyDeleteThanks. you're awesome btw :)
Currently: Android 2.2.1 ; Baseband 1.39.00.0627r, 0.01.69.06254r. Sorry I'm really bad with all this
ReplyDelete@larryn Haha thanks
ReplyDeleteK but there's different stock versions that Verizon has put out, some u would need to flash a radio some u wouldn't. If u tell me ur baseband I can tell u if u need to or not
@larryn ok yes u will need to flash a radio. If u get my radio pack on the thunderbolt page u should flash the mr3 with this ROM. U can use my how to flash radio video to help u. And u should do the radio first before the ROM. U won't have service after flashing the radio, dont worry, it will come back after u flash the ROM
ReplyDeletethanks for all the help :) If i manage to brick this, it will be really sad
ReplyDeletehey nat.
ReplyDeleteAfter this OTA update, I am not able to use wireless tether. What method is there to go around this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...
@JosephChoi
ReplyDeleteare you using this app?
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/detail?name=wireless_tether_2_0_7.apk&can=2&q=
Yes that's the app I'm using. Laptop connects to TB, but the laptops wifi shows a !- showing no internet access.
ReplyDeleteDo u have access control enabled?
ReplyDeleteTry turning the tethering off then right back on, usually works for me
tried it with access control enabled, disabled, security on, off... and also tried turning it on and off right away.
ReplyDeletearrrrgggg....
still not working...
FYI, I'm not the only TB user who's having this problem...
Hm. Have u tried another app from the market?
ReplyDeleteI have had zero problems on bamf forever, might consider switching.
Trying bamf forever.
ReplyDeleteWow...pretty slick.
Should've used it earlier.
Thanks again.
quick question- after installing 1.08, do I just run the 1.09 patch from the zip?
How do I check if the patch was applied correctly?
To apply the zip u just flash it in recovery without wiping anything
